‘Curiouser and Curiouser!’ cried Alice (she was so much surprised that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).
Drawn from the opening passages of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the exhibition curiouser and curiouser offers a colourful and playful exploration of contemporary Australian art. The works engage with myth, wonder, humour, bewilderment and dream-like imagery.

"Karen Golland’s installation Mad Honey 2018, was inspired by a virtual visit to the azalea gardens at Hakone, Japan. the multi-coloured azaleas in Hakone are impeccably trimmed and maintained in spherical forms, with gravel pathways leading visitors in between. the honey of the azalea is toxic, and can cause hallucinations. the artificial azaleas in Golland’s work cultivate this tension between beautiful form and toxicity through high-vis colours, pompoms and pulsing lights."
